About

Find Out More About Us

KiwisInSTEM was started to support the the significant numbers of educated Kiwis leaving Aotearoa.

New Zealand citizens are increasingly departing the country, with Statistics NZ reporting that over 81,200 citizens exited the country between April 2023 and 2024.

Leaving your home country is challenging, and KiwisInSTEM aims to help ease this transition through community.

We also believe Aotearoa STEM deserves to be competitive on the world stage, so we're enabling talented New Zealanders in the UK to grow connections back home while broadcasting our members' fantastic work to the world.

Our Objectives:

  • Provide useful information to New Zealanders moving to the UK, helping them settle in smoothly
  • Assist those moving from the UK back to New Zealand by identifying innovation and job opportunities back home.
  • Connect Kiwis in the UK with others in similar situations for networking and support.
  • Globally promote the amazing work of Kiwis, at both an individual level and together as a nation to highlight how our "can do" attitude aligns with advancements in science and technology.

What do we do?

How do we achieve our Goals?

KiwisInSTEM is a community forward organisation, where we bring people together through running networking events, publishing articles, and connecting our members.

Articles

We post articles about everything New Zealand and STEM. From opinion peices about the state of STEM fields within Aotearoa, to scientific articles about specific areas, we're constantly looking for new and interesting things to broadcast to our community and the world.

Events

In the post-covid era, face to face events have become less common. We host events for our members to meet and network in person, to cross polinate ideas and enjoy conversation with like-minded individuals.

Connection

With our member map and user profiles, we enable our members to understand where Kiwis in STEM are throughout the world and connect with them personally through LinkedIn.

Logan Baber

Co-Chair & Test Engineer

When I moved from NZ to the UK, I didn't realize how much I would miss home. I believe that the KiwisInSTEM community can bring people together who understand what it means to be a Kiwi working in the United Kingdom.

Sally Martin

Co-Chair

The STEM sector is vital to the prosperity of both NZ and the UK. Co-founding KiwisInSTEM to create a thriving and supportive community for individuals and businesses is exactly what the NZUK Link Foundation was set up to do 34 years ago.
